Accommodation in Brazil
Hotels in Rio de Janeiro | Natal | Salvador Sao Paulo | Costa do Sauipe

Visitors to Brazil can choose from an extremely wide range of accommodation, from simple hostels, B&Bs and two-star hotels, typically costing less than $25 a night, to the opulent luxury of the presidential suite in one of the top deluxe hotels, which won't leave you with much change from a thousand pounds.

Hotels in Brazil operate on their local reputation and you tend to get what you pay for: prices are a fairly accurate guide to the degree of comfort you can expect.

Location also affects price: for what you pay on the seafront, for example, you can often find a better place a couple of streets back from the beach. In the major cities such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, expect to pay at least $350 a night for a standard double in a deluxe hotel; $250 in a five-star hotel; $ 75 to $100 for three- or four-star accommodation; and a maximum of $45 in a two-star hotel. As part of a package booked on the Internet or though a tour operator, however, that $325-a-night room can fall to $175 or even less.

Most hotels accept the major credit cards. Pousadas – small, privately run hotels – are another excellent option, forming the accommodation backbone in the historic towns of the interior of in most of the small towns on the coast.
